Loans for ELCA Ministries

About MIF loans | Current interest rates

Apply for a Loan

MIF recommends that congregations and ELCA-related ministries contact an MIF loan administrator before beginning the loan-application process. Call 877.886.3522 toll free.

Loan information is also available from the MIF area representative and church building consultant who serve your synod.

New mission congregations interested in purchasing land or constructing an initial church building should contact their synod's mission director.

NOTE: These applications are interactive PDFs that can be completed online with Adobe Acrobat. Once you have completed the application, print a copy and mail it with the required supporting documentation to the Mission Investment Fund. Signature fields and dates in the Certification section are not interactive; these fields must be signed by the appropriate congregational leaders. Completed applications cannot be saved.

Send completed loan applications to:
Loan Administrator
Mission Investment Fund
8765 W. Higgins Rd.
Chicago, IL  60631

MIF will respond to loan applications within seven business days of receiving a complete loan application.

How will MIF make a decision on an application?
Generally, MIF loans are granted to healthy ELCA congregations that reflect the demographics of the ministry's surrounding neighborhood. MIF reviews a congregation's growth and financial history to develop a loan program that your congregation can repay in a mission-minded way.

MIF reviews the ELCA Congregational Trend Report, and your congregation's annual reports, future ministry plans, construction plans and other documents that you think will help MIF understand your ministry.

Make Loan Payments Automatically!
When your Mission Investment Fund loan is approved, payments can be automatically deducted from the ministry's checking account through Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions.
